Basic Notary LLC is committed to making basicnotary.com usable by everyone, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, or speech input.
CONFORMANCE TARGET
We are working toward Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, and we treat Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as applicable to the administrative and government-facing parts of the platform.
CURRENT CONFORMANCE STATUS: PARTIALLY CONFORMANT
"Partially conformant" means most of the platform meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA, but some content does not yet fully conform. We publish this status honestly rather than claim conformance we have not verified. This statement is reviewed as remediation progresses.
WHAT IS IN PLACE
- Every page declares its language and text direction, so screen readers pronounce content correctly.
- A "Skip to main content" link is the first item in the tab order on every page that uses the standard layout.
- Keyboard focus is visibly indicated throughout, and focus indicators are not suppressed.
- Animation and motion respect your operating system's "reduce motion" setting.
- Search and feedback dialogs can be closed with the Escape key and return focus to where you left off.
- Form fields that fail validation are marked programmatically, not by colour alone, and each error message is announced and linked to the field it describes.
- Status and confirmation messages are announced to assistive technology without moving your focus.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
We are aware of the following and are actively remediating them:
- A small number of administrative pages render outside the standard layout and therefore do not yet provide the skip link or page landmarks.
- Some images in administrative and notary profile screens are missing text alternatives.
- Two administrative overlays (the persona switcher and the developer toolbar) do not yet expose full dialog semantics or complete keyboard handling. These surfaces are internal and are not part of the public booking flow.
- A full automated audit and a manual colour-contrast review across all page templates are not yet complete.
- This statement is currently available in English only. A Spanish translation is planned.
- Remote Online Notarization sessions are conducted inside a third-party provider's audio-video platform. We do not control that provider's interface, and its accessibility conformance is stated by that provider rather than by us. If you need an accommodation for a remote session, contact us before booking and we will arrange an alternative.
ALTERNATIVES AND ACCOMMODATIONS
Notarization is a service you are entitled to obtain regardless of disability. If any part of this website prevents you from booking or completing a notarization, we will complete the transaction with you by phone, by email, or in person at no additional charge. Ask us for an accommodation and we will arrange one.
